Many people have been asking how to install the Tom's/Blitz throttle control. Since the instructions that came with Tom's is in Japanese, I am kind enough to write a DIY for all you folks. :p

The first minute I installed this and took it out for a test drive. The SP3 mode is a monster!! It feels like a IS-F..literally. When I drive normal on SP3, it feels like I am flooring it all the way but I'm not. And for some of you who are wondering that this is similiar to PWR mode, you are wrong. It puts the PWR button to shame. I will write a more detail review for you guys but for now, I highly recommend this! You will not regret it.

Tools needed:
1. Cross-head Screw Driver
2. Electrical Tap
3. Zip Tie
4. Hair Dryer
5. Flash Light

Let's get started! :)

1. Start out by pulling the side panel of the dash. Start pulling from the bottom. It is held on only by clips.

Side View. The holes you see, you will have to put your fingers in to pull the wires from the Throttle Controller Display on Step 4.

2. There is 2 screws under the knee airbag.
One screw on the left side

One screw on the other side
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...r/DSC_0352.jpg

3. Tape the Throttle Controller Display on the Odometer like this. Use the 3m Tape that came with the Throttle Controller.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...r/DSC_0347.jpg

4. Now run the wires from the Throttle Controller behind the steering wheel. Start pulling the wires through the side panel that you pulled off from #1. This was one of the hardest step to make the wires come out from under the knee airbag.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...r/DSC_0348.jpg

5. After you run the wires from the throttle controller display to the brake pedal, you will now need to remove the pre-existing plug. First you will need to heat up the plug with a hair dryer. Put it on hot mode and move it around the plug for 20 seconds. Once it is warm you can easily pull it out. It is circled below.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...DSC_0344-1.jpg

The plug is on top of the accelerator.

6. Now plug in the plug that came with the throttle controller inside the one you removed and plug in the right side of the picture below into the plug on top of the accelerator.

7. Next you will need to make sure it is secure and use electrical tape or else it will throw errors. It will look like this after you are done.

8. Plug in the wires from the accelerator plug and throttle control display into the ballast look a like.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...r/DSC_0349.jpg

9. Zip tie the wires.

10. Use the 3m tape that came with the Throttle Control and put it on the ballast. I taped the ballast onto the fuse box. Hard to see but it is circled below.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...DSC_0350-1.jpg

10. Start the engine to make sure that it works. It will look like this if it works.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...r/DSC_0355.jpg

11. Reverse the steps to put everything back to normal and enjoy! :p

I will write a review later on and will have my friend record a video of it in action. Stay tune. :D

Is that only for the 350, or do they have one for the 250 as well?? Thanks

Thanks for the DIY. This mod has been moved up to the top of my list. I can't wait to try that SP3 mode.

For Tom's, it's the same part number for the 250/350: 22030-TS003

I'm not sure for Blitz, but would guess it is also the same used for both models.

Great write up! What does throttle control actually do? Does it speed up the servos controlling the throttle?

I really don't understand why you guys would drop this kind of money on something that DOES NOT make your car faster, it just changes the throttle, which you could do in PWR mode...don't mind me, just voicing an opinion :D

This is what happen when people don't read the thread and start making assumptions.. :egads:

Yeah, it doesn't make your car faster.. but how often do you race? This is for people who drive their car normally and want a quicker throttle response. Btw, PWR mode is on par with the lowest mode on the unit. I will put your imagination on the highest mode..

hmm, seems interesting..

kickin8 Feb 25, 2009 11:17 PM

nice....gotta see it in person....

Tom's FTW :D

SeOuLiS250 Feb 25, 2009 11:44 PM

so~how do you like it so far?
I don't think it would be necessary for my 250 since it won't really change much :p
but I'd like to hear from you all 350's..
and maybe from 250s if you can feel the difference :D

thanks for DIY :)
