Default IS250 MT shake when taking off in 1st

I just picked up a 2006 with a MT, and 26k miles. When I take off in first gear and feel the clutch about to bite the whole car will shake. Its like The clutch is slipping and biting at the same time. Im thinking the clutch might be glazed over from previous owned????? Ive been driving stick for 10 years and the problem is not me. Its as if i was taking off and not giving it enough gas to move the car..... I have to bring it to lexus but will they cover this?? Thanks guys

regarding the clutch, dealership will most likely say wear and tear. theres a huge thread about the manual tranny. check the search.

well they might do it just to satisfy the customer (i work at a Lexus dealer) and have had numerous customers complain about their clutch being bad at 18k miles ont heir IS and got it replaced... basically, if you complain loud enough they will cover it just to satisfy the customer

BTW my clutch is kinda the same (close)

Im wondering if the dealer will take correct this. I just got the car two days ago so Im assuming the dealer I bought the car from cant sell a car with a fried clutch right???? And to kill a clutch with only 26k seems harsh.

"ROB IS250", What does your clutch do. Mine shutters and vibrates when its almost fully engaged and the pedal is about all the way up. Sometimes kind of harsh. Yours does the same?

well after accidentally burning it up a little it does that... i once made a noob rev (while clutch wwas engaged ) and smelled that beautiful (but bad for the car) clutch smell and right after that is when it was acting up like that but it barely does it so its cool for now.

and tell them WTF you didnt just buy a LEXUS to have it delivered to you with a bad clutch

you better complain about that LOL

At what speed are you letting up the clutch? I found that anything under 1500RPM will cause shudder... I make sure not to let it dip below that and the shudder is gone.

If you bought the car from a lexus dealer your car should be pre-owned certified, take it back ***** and complain for a new clutch they will give it you, I also work at a lexus dealer and im positive they will take care of you.

it's pre-owned and manual. the 2gen manual trans. blows as it is to be honest and i wouldn't doubt a clutch problem..they should easily offer to replace it under warranty otherwise it's BS..if they say NO agressively ask for f-sport clutch at invoice haha..u will see post after post on the manuals, everyones had issues..i had issues under 4000 miles and had them check the clutch at the 5k service and they said it's perfect..only at 8k and still issues here n there..no more lexus manual for me after thisss

it's a different car than your previous cars. the clutch on our cars has a throw length of like over a foot....stock, which is nuts by the way. my buddy's integra has a clutch throw of like 5 inches...major difference. you just got to get used to it and find the sweet spot. your problem sounds more like a driver error than the car...

I have owned sti's, vr6's, built b20 hondas and anything in between all being stick. I dont think its driver error. Its a shudder that cant be avoided. If I let the clutch out with a high or low rpm the feeling is still there. I think there is a heat spot in the flywheel and the clutch cant grab. Anyways, the throw isnt too bad and the car shifts smooth as silk. The tranny seems to be ok except for the take off issue. I took the car in and the service guy rode with me and said he noticed it. They said he will do all he can to correct it and they might have the car for over 2 weeks! Oh well Lets see what happens.
