Default Heated Mirrors

Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone has noticed the following.

Normally when I pull into the underground at my work, if the conditions are muggy, I notice my mirrors fog-up along with my rear glass. Now, this is normal so no surprises here, however, this morning I noticed that my mirrors began to heat-up and defog on their own without me pressing the defog/heat mirror switch.

I found this to be interesting but a bit alarming considering that they may be heated all the time, is this possible? Wouldn't this burnout the feature on really hot days?

Look forward to your input, thanks guys.

I noticed the other day that when it was cold enough my heater was in auto mode and started in defroster mode at the start of my trip, then going from defroster to the feet after awhile. Perhaps the two are related.

i found this feature out when reading about the feature of the car.

it should only be on when you hit the rear defrost button.

let's see if anyone has other input.

I should clarify that I only had the heater on, not in auto mode though...

More information...

So I did my own tests...I turned off the seat warmers and that didnt do anything to stop the mirrors from defrosting (I figured perhaps someone thought that if the seat warmers are on, maybe the defrosters should be on...silly, I know, but I had to try something!)

I checked the rear glass and noticed that it was not warm, indicating that the defrosters on the mirrors are working independently of the rear glass defroster.

The only thing I guess I can do is let the dealership know that when the tried fixing the dash rattle, they obviously must of messed things up which are causing my mirror defrosting to remain on!
