Default Need help with wheel offsets

I am looking to get a set of used wheels, but am completely new to this whole wheel sizing thing. I have an 07 IS350, no plans to drop the car or roll fenders. I am thinking 19 X 8.5 Front and 19 X 9.5 Rear. I just think 20s seem too big. The problem I am having is with offsets. I have no idea what I need. I am looking at other forums for other makes (G35, BMW, etc) except I have no idea what offsets would work, esp if I end up with a 19 X 9 in the front and a 19 X 10 in the rear (if it's even possible without rolling fenders).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

With the sizes you want, you can go as low as 22s, what kind of drop are you doing?

Not doing any sort of drop... will the 22 offset clear a BBK?

FYI and before anyone else says it. You know your car will not look right with wheels and no drop right? Springs being the least IMO. It will depend on the wheel for the BBK.

Hmmm... then maybe I need to stay clear of wheels. I am not a fan of driving lowered cars, too much stuff to watch out for all the time. But if I am getting 19s it would make sense that I would need a small drop...

You can always get 18s in the style you like, then it'll look just like it does now (in terms of drop) but with nicer wheels (and hopefully lighter ones)

That's exactly what I plan to do if I ever find a nice set of light, quality, 5-spokes available in 18s since I've no intention of any more drop than the sport suspension provides

So I found some Volk GT7s. 19 x 9.5 front and 19 x 10.5 rear. Offsets are 30/24. Would this work at all, or would it just look silly

it not the offsets that will look silly its the space in the wheel well with custom wheels!

A 10.5" in the back on a 24 offset won't work. It'll stick out almost an inch. I'm running 20x10" in rear with a +30 offset and it already pokes a little bit and I had to stretch the tires a little for it to not rub.

If you roll your fenders and then lower the car to where it tucks, I still have an inch or space, cambered. NO rubbing, and I'm on +36 offset, but I wanna get 25mm spacers, so it can be +11 offset, about the inch I was looking for. Who thinks it'll work?

Hi there, make sure you get wheels that fit! different cars use different wheel patterns -length of the straight line between the lugs, I can't remember what ours was (was it 114?)

One more thing since you are not going after any drop, test any wheels with similar size+profile (ignore the offsets) before buying, the car would probably end up looking sitting too high if the profile was good, or sacrificing comfort if the profile was too low. Best of luck!

So this wheel offset thing is starting to kill me... Can someone please pass on their knowledge to explain how to tell how if wheels will fit on the 2IS? Don't you have to know the distance from the face of the hub to the outside of the wheel well or something like that...

I want a stock look when it comes to the wheels being "flush" with the side of the car.

Please please someone explain it to me. Thanks.

If you are not going to lower then you shouldnt rub...

If you got with 18" or 19" X8.5 in the front then you can go +36 and it will look flush and you wont have any issues. Make sure they will clear BBK (you have to ask when you order the rims if they do) In the rear go with 18 or 19" x10 with a +40 offset. Both of these should offer what you are looking for. Anything less then these offsets will also work and be more conservative. Read the aftermarket wheel thread and you will see what the offset of your OEM rims are and compare the difference to something similar to this. You will also see pics of others cars to get a visual of what you like or dont like. The sky is the limit here its really all about what you want to do.
