My exhaust tips were in rough shape, so I decided to refinish them:



I also picked up some 1000 grit sand paper and may hit them with that, although I kind of like how they look now.

Those definitely didn't look like they needed steel wool or sanding... just have to have the right products.

Here are some exhaust tips that were severely oxidized - I think you will agree they look much worse than yours did. (This is after they had already been washed)


Here is what they look like after 10 minutes of polishing by hand... totally restored and they are not all scratched up from the steel wool.


Looks like you've got a lot of polishing left to attempt to eliminate the scratches caused by steel wool... Good luck.

Since I believe most of us are not detailing experts on metal and other things, it would be nice if you actually shared with us what you did
