Wasn't there a TSIB for this. I did this for my IS350 a months ago. They put some dampener or something. Rid most of the noise but some lingering that doesn't bother me like it did before.

The cracking sound is on the '06-08's. A known problem the dealer can work on. Haven't heard of any '09 or '10 owners with the problem.

I have an IS 250 2009 and the rattle was coming from the driver's vent.
I tried what Technique posted and it works. If i push the dashboard, it stops.
I didn't put a dime in between yet but i will go find some felt or something first. Last thing i want is a dime rattling around inside the dash. lol
Oh and thank you Technique.
P.S: Sorry for reviving this thread but it helped me greatly!

2010 IS250 - I have a squeak, like a styrofoam noise, right above my RPM gauge around the screw that hold the dash together.
If I squeeze the dash together it gives a noise like squeezing two pieces of styrofoam together so I know that is where it is coming from.
Some days it is worse then others but it has gotten to the point where I am about to open it up myself and fix it.

Hello guys, I successfully stopped the dash rattles but simply removing the speedometer and steering and then you'll be able to see the plastic parts of windsheild vent rattling as they touch each other. I also put some felt/foam down the dashboard. NO DASH REMOVE IS NEEDED!

I had a really bad rattle in the dashboard. Took it to Lexus. They said because its a Japanese import, the sun had warped the dash and so the noise was coming from near the vents, right along the windshield.
They said they would only do work on it if they put in a whole new dashboard. They quoted me roughly 1.3K for a new dashboard and labour. I thought surely theres a cheaper to fix to just get rid of the rattle.
So I ended up putting a rubber strip cut off a rubber floor Matt and placed that between the dash and the windshield and it fixed the problem. It's not very noticeable either.
There is one rattle coming from my drivers side door though, towards the back. its not due to the speakers, its just going over bumps etc it gets quite loud. I'd like to sort that out too.
