Default iPhone stops car from starting.......

When I have my keys and my phone in the same pocket, my car will not respond. I have done this on several occasions and the car has failed to start, and it is much more difficult getting it to unlock as well. Kinda weird that it causes interference with the key fob.

Maybe the batteries in your key fob are dying..that sounds pretty unusual..try swapping w/ your extra set of keys?

Since cell phone contact will drain the battery, I am not surprised it interferes with the signal. I would put a new battery in just to be safe.

I just replaced the battery a month or so ago. It works fine as long as the phone is not present in the same pocket. It is not the batteries.

Strange..I've never had it where the car would not start, but I have had the keyless entry feature fail a couple times when I touched the back of the handle. I think that's usually a user error though, I sometimes grab the handle rather quickly before the antenna can detect the key, perhaps? Or maybe it's that cell phone interference you are experiencing..

No problems here either...BUT I NEVER purposely keep the iPhone and the keyfob in the same pocket...Its easy to scratch the iPhone screen or worse crack it...so iPhone stays in a pocket with cash bills only and key fob stays in pockets with change....

hmmm interesting. I had no idea phones could interfere/drain a phones battery. I got a sony ericsson P1 and recently its been happening to me, maybe a handful of times. I didnt know what the deal was at the time but i do remember the phone and the key were in the same pocket and were in direct contact with each other. Other wise the key works fine

Since this has only started to happen to me recnelty i think its a combination of two things, the battery dying and the key being in direct contact with a phone. Im gonna test out my theory with my spare key later this afternoon

No problems. That being said, key fob and iPhone are kept separate.

Read the owners manual. It clearly states that this may happen exactly as described.

See if turning bluetooth off on iPhone helps. (I guess iPhone has bluetooth...)
