Default best (removable) solution to front plate holes?

I have holes drilled into my front bumper from day 1. I was hoping to leave them unplugged, and go without a plate so that I could tell a cop that I just had them drilled.

...but the ugliness of the holes is killing me and I want them plugged up. However, I know that some bumper plugs require that you enlarge the holes. I want to be able to remove the plugs if I have to.

So... do you guys know a good solution to this? I want to plug the holes but be able to put the front plate back on if I have to get a fix it ticket cleared.

Thanks

People on CL have liked Aerotect's bumper plugs:

Thanks. But does anyone here have those bumper plugs and know if they can be removed so that the front plate bracket can be put back on?

im assuming the bumper plugs are like those covers that go over screws to hide them and can be pulled off anytime you need to unscrew something.. so yes, you should be able to remove the plugs and screw the license plate in whenever

I used the aerotech ones. I sanded them down so they would fit (snug) without making larger holes. Bracket can still be used

You are in CA so my best recommendation is to cover the holes with the front plate.

I don't recommend anything illegal... at least not in public.

My advice is to get the bumper plugs, and then if you ever get a fix it ticket, when you're on the way to get it signed off, pull over a block from the police station, pull out a couple cable ties (some people call them zip ties) and affix the plate to the honeycomb grill on the bottom of the bumper. Go in to the police station, get signed off, pull out from the parking lot, around the corner and snip off the plate.

I'm not advocating breaking the law, but it would be nice if the law is consistent. If no front plate is against the law, then every cop should stop you for it, not the one cop who's having a bad day and decides to take it out on you.

I would bumper plug the holes and get the tow hook plate holder. PM me if you are interested in where to get it. I have the info somewhere in my inbox.

Good plan. Man, I am glad I live in a state that only issues a rear plate! Actually. I think you could put on and take off the plate at home before and after going to the police check. I don't think it will damage the image of the car for it to be on for that short of a time.

Thanks for the link. Just ordered plugs and red-outs! My IS came from Oregon, now lives in Arizona. First thing we did was pull the (ugh) front plate holder.
