Acura officially released it's newly re-designed TL which offers a new engine and drivetrain. On paper it's a good comparision with the IS 350, but visually they obviously have their own design philosophies.

2009 Acura TL SH-AWD:

• 3.7-liter VTEC V6
• 305 HP / 273 lbs-ft. of torque
• 17 / 25 MPG

2009 Lexus IS 350 RWD:

• $36,605 MSRP
• 3.5-liter V6
• 306 HP / 277 lbs-ft. of torque
• 18 / 25 MPG

How you do you think these two cars stack up against each other?

Honestly it's what you want out of the car. Both are sporty and can haul ***. The TL is considerably bigger than the IS so if you want to take passengers it'll be the better bet. I would imagine the IS would have better fuel economy because of the AWD on the TL too

When I got my IS, I was torn between the TL-S and the 350, test drove both back to back and I was just more comfortable in the smaller and nimbler IS

you guys should check out the resale value on the TL...man, oh man...trade in for a 07 TL-S is 23k for excellent condition, brand new one is 34k plus ttl. I paid 36k plus ttl for my 07 IS350 and the trade in value is 28k. The only way I'll buy a TL is for something to take the depreciation hit first.

*price is based on both car with 26k miles (that's what I have)

I voted for the 09 TL SH-AWD just because i live in KS and i currently own an IS350. Thinking of trading in my fiancee 06 TL for the 09, but somehow the styling of the new TL does not wow me. I guess i will decide when i test drive one. Sometimes real life is better than pictures.

Looks like an angrier TSX that gained some weight..I'd take the Acura over an IS350 though..I've always been a fan of hondas. I miss my RSX-S every single day

That is not good looking. The previous TLs were way nicer looking, IMO. The back has a GS-like "hump."

TL SH-AWD to me would compete more with a GS350 AWB, its bigger, AWD, similar power but its a lot cheaper than a GS

the only reason to pick the TL over the Is would be the interior space and maybe handling depending on your driving style. thats it.
the IS has it in almost every other category.

I would take the the lex over the acura anyday, I have owned a 99 tl a 02 tl type s and a 04 tl. They are nice cars just not built like lexus. The new acuras feel like tin cans inside. The only acura that felt like a lex to me was the classic 91 to 95 Legend. The Legend is in a class buy itself, an amazing car way before its time
