I thought I read somewere you are supposed to change it every 12,000 miles. also what I have been doing and you can too it's not that hard. We buy the really good home A/C filters at Home Depot and then cut them to fit and they work great. We do this because my wife has alot of allegeries and we can buy the Allergen filter for her.

I'm not sure if the activated carbon cabin air filter is available. In my vette, chevy stock both, the cheap stuff and one with activated carbon. Of course, I got the one with activated carbon.

Go to Home Depot get a nice charged filter cut to fit and save the time and worries. Also I heard the AC blower was having issues getting passed the "good" filter, this was a problem in the TC and removed them in mid 06. The IS may have the same trip up.

At the Lexus dealership that I work at we don't sell that POS filter. We use the good filter. We charge more for the good one but hey good quality comes at a price.

AC filter replacement at 10k is only the LS and SC.
On the IS you -clean- the filter at 15, and replace it at 30k

Sorry to burst your bubble but that is the SH*&# filter, see the original. That is just a paper media, no activated carbon. The ones with activated carbon are heavier and thicker.

In November '06, I bought a couple at Irontoad.com, and the one I have left is the one with a lot of folds (but, not "carbon activated" that I can tell). The Toyota part number was 87139-07010.

Questions for the sponsering dealers:
How can we get the activated carbon cabin air filter?
What is the part number?
and How much more compare to the paper media filter only?
