Engine Air Filter DIY?
Hi everyone.
I am hoping somebody can either give me some guidance on changing the engine air filter or point me to a DIY link. I didn't see it in the sticky FAQs, and the searches mostly came up with the cabin filter, which I know how to do.
The owner's manual doesn't seem to address that in the DIY section either. Is it a really simple process? I've never taken off the engine covers before, so if I take those off, is the answer simple, just remove the old one and put in the new one?
(The car in question is an IS350, btw). Thanks.

1. Remove the engine covers - you'll see this: (image courtesy of XprinoX)
2. You'll notice four toolbox-style clips that fasten the lid of the engine airbox. Undo those clips. The rubber material of the intake tube will let you flex the entire assembly upward so you can slide your old air filter out from underneath.
3. Reverse the above steps, and bam - you're done. It's really easy.

Really? I really don't think this particular topic is in there. Do you recall what section you saw it in? I think I read most, if not all of the manual.

It isn't in the owner's manual. I checked the whole thing. Nothing about replacing the air filter element by the owner.

Replacing the engine air filter, the cabin air filter, wiper inserts, and other very routine items will save you a lot of money in the long run. Once you do these things once, you'll be amazed at what the dealer charges v. the actual effort.

I'm about to do this now for the first time. Is there any secret to removing the engine covers without breaking any of the clips?
In my old cars (mostly Hondas), the little clips seemed to always break really easily...

Nevermind, they seem sturdy enough... But I just broke part of the A/C filter I think...
