Question Stop the engine without stopping the audio system?

So I'm driving home and listening to this really interesting radio program, and I don't want to miss a word. But after I park and need to stop the engine, pressing the engine start/stop button shuts down the radio too. I take my foot off the brake and press the start/stop button again but until the radio comes back, I lost at least 5 seconds of the program.

Is there a way to stop just the engine and keep the electric power to the radio?

Dont shift it to 'Park', shift it to 'N' with your hand brake on. then just press the start/stop bottom to shut the engine off, your nav and radio will stay on

On a similar vein... is there a way to from accessory on to just off, without cycling through the full power mode?

I have to admit I never thought of trying that. Thanks for the info!

Default How to stop the car afterwards?

Another question though:

So I shift into neutral, press the engine stop button, shift into park, and the radio goes on. But how do I then turn off the car without starting the engine again?

If I just turn off the radio, the dashboard lights will still be on. If I open the door, the Lexus will beep, and won't allow me to lock the doors. I have to start the engine, then stop it again.

Is there a way to turn off the Lexus from the "neutral, stop, park" state without starting the engine again?

Just don't depress the brake pedal.

seems like a lot of work to just listen to the radio. That sux actually. Sometimes I like to just sit in my car on break and just listen to the radio without running the engine.

It takes about 1.5 seconds. Not a lot of work at all.

vlexus, as was mentioned, just don't depress the brake and you won't start the engine again. Though I think you have to press it twice to completely shut it down.

Indeed, you have to press twice, with the brake pedal free. After the first press, the car starts up. The second press shuts it down.

x3...is there a way to keep the stereo on with a manual trans? hate having to see my steering wheel go in and out everytime I want to kill the engine and have the stereo come on again.

That's good information. I always wondered why I had to turn the car off then back on to keep the radio on. Now I have been corrected and can leave the radio on without doing a complete off/on cycle.
