Default Upgrading the Factory Stereo

I recently bought a 2008 IS 250 and I want to add an aftermarket subwoofer. I want to put all JL audio products in it and I called a Lexus referred local audio shop. They told me I wouldn't need any equalizers or sound controllers just a few adapters. Since everyone on this forum knows more about Lexus' then they do, I thought I'd ask around here. I searched around the forum but was unsuccessful in finding the answer to my question.

try the audio section.........

I don't really know what you want answered. Are you planning to put in 1 or 2 subs? what size? are you going to upgrade and amp the component speakers?

I personally just kept my component speakers and just tapped into the factory amplifier under the plastic cover in the trunk. BTW I have a 12' Alpine type R, and it sounds SWEEEEEEET!

I plan on putting a JL 13w6v2 subwoofer in the trunk with the JL 500/1v2 amplifier. I'm going to leave the factory component speakers for now because they have enough mid and high range for what I like. I just want more bass but keep the original head unit. I was reading on JL's website about there CleanSweep® CL441-dsp for the OEM interface but I don't know if I need this or not. It sounds like it would equal out the frequencies with the aftermarket sub but I don't know if the OEM head unit will do that or not.

with the normal 14 speakers does anyone notice them all working when the "psel" is on all speakers? if i switch to driver/front/rear i notice them work seperately. when i have it set to all speakers it seem like only the speakers in the front is on. anyone else have this issue?
