I know this is OT but...
I hope you have clear bra.
I went on a short 5 hour trip from LA to SF and I had about 8 rock chips on my bumper and hood keeping a steady pace of 70 mph w/about 4-5 car lengths behind each car.
Of course there are other alternatives such as, a normal bra or some painters tape...it may look ugly but, it'll save you hundreds (that's only if you care about the paint).
Anyways, hope you have a fun and most importantly SAFE trip (none of us want to see another cursed IS thread).

No damage at all. When some cars are being tested by the manufacturer for durability and overheating, they put them up and let the miles pile on for days at a time.

agreed, i just took a 7hr drive from charelston,sc to sarasota, fl. i dont have a clear bra but somedays i wished i did. i suffered a few rock chips and such but i realized its just a car its. things are gonna happen to it know matter how many preventional things you do to your car.

also our car isnt any different from every other car ever made. itll handle along drive as long as its properly maintained. simple as that

100k highway miles will leave your car looking and felling pretty new.

I drove 17.5 hours from New Jersey to Florida. Not a single problem and not that uncomfortable either. Interesting thing. Using premium gas gave MUCH better gas mileage. I was shocked. The dealer gave me a free tank of 87 and I could only squeeze 27 mpg out of it. Using 91 got me 29mpg and 93 gave me a clean 30mpg @ 78-80 mph.

I have gotten like 35mpg with my AWD from NY to LIU 80ish miles drive. I reset it just to see how I do on a freeway and I was impressive for sure.

If you're going to be the only one driving, please make sure to get some good rest before attempting this. That's the only thing I would worry about. Your car should hold up fine.

i think you should make right turns at the bottom of the hour, and left turns at the top of the hour. this will ensure that the car does not get damaged.

I drove from Portland, Maine to Chicago in one day via, Boston, Manhattan etc. It was a little over 18 hours and I started to see things because I was so fatigued. I was also by myself in my gen 1 IS300 which was fun to drive on highways. I have also driven from Chicago to Nashville non-stop, New Mexico to Mississippi and some other crazy long distance trips. I strongly recommend an oil change, tire rotation, fluid check, etc. Also, I strongly recommend making stops at travel centers/gas stations in order to obtain fluids (I just love the caffeine) and to stay awake. Always pull over and nap if your eyes get heavy. You do not want to fall asleep at the wheel. I have come close and then decided to stop and nap. To directly answer your question, this is not bad for your car and is actually good for it. It will clean out your fuel system operating at higher steady speeds. I am sure there is not much carbon build-up in your 2gen.
