I've heard you are to break in your car how you are going to drive it. Like every new car I buy, I drive it off the lot and open it up and drive aggressive like I always do. I never keep a car past 2 years any way so it probably doesn't matter because if it's going to break it will be down the road and it won't be my issue anymore lol. Seriously though, I do tend to get good gas milage out of my vehicles when driving at high speeds where a lot of people see a real loss of fuel economy at those speeds. Maybe it has something to do with I drive fast and hard as soon as I take the car off the lot. Dunno but no way I have the patience to drive easy for 500 miles.

I think I'll stick to whatever method resulted in mine being a "factory monster". I.E. don't follow any particular method, but do lots of WOT without high RPMs during the 1st few hundred miles.

does that mean.. if u got an auto tranny. just manually shift gears? (l 2 d r blah blah) and lets say... driving it at 6k first gear.. or high rpm on second gear? and then let it slow down it self.

do you WOT to 6k or just let it rise to 6k?

Well, when I got my "NEW" IS350 in end of Oct of 05, it already had like 100 miles on it (test driven by every salesman probably). When I test drove it, I revved it to redline several times... It's too late for me - the damage is already done, but for having it over 20,000 miles and redlining it everyday, it still sounds and feels like the day I got it.

how exactly does one avoid "driving at highway speeds"? That makes no sense...

This is my 3rd new car. I had a 2003 Honda Accord V6 6spd that I drove off the lot and drove it normal until about 100 miles, then I drove it hard. I sold it with 85,000 miles on it. Not one problem, burned no oil, flawless.

My second new car was 2005 EVO VIII which break in consisted of driving it extremely hard. The car at 2000 miles had over 350awhp and around 450whp in the middle of its life. I sold it with 75,000 miles, again didnt burn a drop of oil and not one single solitary problem. Therefore, there is no real break-in for me that I follow. I just drive it.
