Default Front View Camera

Has anyone attempted to integrate a front view camera with the factory nav display? This would be used for parking assistance and probably be mounted in the front grill facing down.

Help is appreciated!

i dont think so that i am aware of but not a bad idea for the ones with the cars lowered and GFX kits.

wonder if you could put a switch for front or rear. i think i would rather it in the front then the rear for these reasons!

My car audio guy says it can be done, I just need to know how to break into the video feed and I will just use a switch to turn it on or off.

Check at the link below. There is a document for the audio diagram at the bottom of the page. Maybe that will help.

dont waste ur $10 search this forum...theres a lot of info.....video input has already been figured out on this forum....it basically uses the rear camera feed....perhaps these threads can be of some assitance

basically what u would have to do is instal a switch to turn on the rear camera on demand , then hijack that feed with the feed of the camera in the front via another switch....ive thought of doin this just havent got around to it...u can also hijack the feed for a video input to beable to play videos from an external source...ie dvd player.

The new LX570 has this feature, plus a passenger side camera that sees how far you are from the curb when parking.

i don't see how this feature is of real value.

a front mount camera could help protecting a front lip but don't the big side mirrors tilt down when on reveres? the ones on the IS do which gives me perfect visibility

you know, i always thought the windshield provided a really good view out the front of my car.
why the hell would you want a front camera?

They only tilt down on the IS if you have the Lux or Sport pkg. I'm not saying it's a worthwhile add on to the IS. But--the camera is a fisheye lens, isn't it. So you get a broader viewing area with the camera. I would think that might be helpful on an LX.

like u said its only in reverse...what happens when u need to drive "forward" into a small spot...want to make sure u have plenty of room....and im guessing it would prevent some curb rash on the rims too...(im just offering the counter argument)

I just read that in Motor Trend. For the price of that thing, it is nice to have these extra bells and wistles as options. It was rated good and added safety. Nice way to not mess up a ground FX kit on a lowered IS as stated above IMO.
