I have seen some people did the red out and did the smoke on top of it.

but I removed my red out and did the smoked just because...

Remove the red out first, its like putting a sticker on the inner glass then laying tint over it...

How have people been going about smoking their lights? I'm sort of new to modding my car and I got an estimate for $350 to paint & bake the shade onto the lights. Does this sound good?

too much money... do it yourself. it's like 10 bucks for the transparent paint and another 10 for the clear coat... a little buffing and you'll be golden

There are plenty of DIY's on google for tinting tail lamps

If you want the look of red blinkers stick some red bulbs in your turn signals. Red and amber a close to each other so the amber lens won't filter much of the red light.

i just got my tails smoked...well i traded with another cl member, he smoked them with this one spray, and i just took to a paint shop to get them clear coated...very sexy. at that shop it cost like 40 bucks a piece to tint and everything. oh and i have a GS not IS :p

just for the curiousity...

I think it looks really hot when a "Brand New" looking cars are modded.

and when it has smoked taillights, it is very acceptable and real cool...

but when it gets old...maybe like 3 years from now...

it looks better when it does not have smoked taillights...

doesn't it?...

look at some Honda Civic guys on the road...

they might have smoked taillights and looks so cheap and it is cheap...

so I used the overlay to cover, just so that I can remove it later.

Definitely remove the red-out inserts before applying new film or painting and you will be fine.

Yes, remove the red before smoking out. It will save you trouble in the end as the redout will be budging out once the smoke is on top of it. I tried installing it with the red and it did not look so good so I took it out and redid it.

Where can i get these redouts?
