Angry My 1st accident

So basically I'm in my school's parking garage at an intersection. I was already on the intersection and this guy decides to make the right turn with me in the intersection already. The *** rams the passenger rear side and damages my 06 IS 350 with his old and crappy corolla.

My question is. I'd like to repair this as soon as possible. If I repair it now and pay it with my expenses will his insurance reimburse me or should I wait till I get the police report and contact his insurance company? Also any recommendations for a good body shop in Northern NJ??

Here's the damage

I'd doubt it. Insurance companies usually like to take things to their own shops.

If you want insurance to cover it, you'll have to wait. You can pick your own body shop, but they'll have to negotiate with the insurance company as far as coverage and such. Plus, depending on what company they have (i.e. Progressive), they may need to take pictures.

Get it done right.

Get his insurance to cover your repairs. If the repairs are not good enough, you don't have to agree that the repairs are completed. Get your time and money's worth...

Make sure to have the other parties insurance company send an adjuster to rectify your claim and they will cut you a check. I hope you got a police report.

file police report and insurance, wait for insurance people to take a look before any body work......and have them take care of you.

Did you find any witness who saw how the accident happened?

Ouch. There are accidents everyweek at my skool garage. That sucks. Im extra careful since we have alot of blind intersections in the parking stucture. Insurance claim it since its not your fault. It wont hurt your premium.

How the heck did the person not see you? he hit you in the rear. You shoulda been way passed him .geez people these days need to be more aware of their surroundings

Nah there were no witnesses around but it was right of way issue which the police mentioned to the other party that he was clearly at fault. I have no idea how he didn't see me. It wasn't like i was even going fast, maybe 10mph or less. I should make a suggestion to the school to put a stop sign on the intersections. I see people hauling through there and going the wrong way on a one way. Today was not a good day lol.

If you have collision coverage on your car, you can work through your own insurance company, and then they'll collect from the other party's insurance through a process called subrogation.

agreed, you wont have to pay any extra for this either. they take care of the dirty work and you sign something saying you wont go after them. you will be back to normal much faster this way in my experience and less of a headache to deal with! Good luck!

Bumpers don't come pre-painted. They are painted in the field.
