Anyone else charged for getting DRL's off?
i requested it at my 5k service along with the LPS - no charge. just talk to the service advisor. around 100 bucks crazy all the tech needs is a computer and with a hit of a key or two i believe you can turn it off
It is no charge for me because of the LPS customization. they will charge you if you already had that done. 1/2 hour is the minmum charge for any service work. even if it was just 30secs.
Its the High Beams that ran at 50% of the power so it gives out this nasty yellow color when your headlights are off. There suppose to be a safety feature but it seems like dealers are giving the people the run around saying its a California law or not being safe.
The only countries that have Laws for DRL's are Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Anyway, does anybody know of any dealers in the Detroit area that will do this? The IS looks so much better without those ugly DRL's on.

Of course--it's better off for them to just do it for free as a good will gesture, and avoid people bad mouthing and posting about them....
To be charging for turning off DRL (Daytime Running Lights) is ridiculous. It takes them a matter of minutes to do.
Just makes sure you go in for an oil change or alignment or something.
That way there is already a bill and this is just a simple negligible service

So--if they are going to charge, it should be 1/10th of an hour of labor charge. If you go for a 2nd change of the LPS, they charge their hourly rate. I'm sure most of those changes are only a few minutes. $100 is outrageous, though.
