The card key finally came in and here are the pics.

As you can see the battery is a CR2412 (3V) battery

Here's an apdate.

The 08 keys are cut only on the inside and not on the outside. The 07 and older cars are cut on both sides. I had a CL member PM me about his dealer being unable to cut him the key or much less even understand how his smart card was working on his vehicle.

The 2000 and older lexes cars use a 4 digit code. The 01-07 cars use a five digit code that begins with 4xxxx and the 08+ use a 5 digit code that begins with 8xxxx.

Since the smart card key is one sided, it isn't available for the 07 and older models even if the smart card is programmable to the vehicle. I'm sure I could order an uncut key and make a spacer to position the key to get it cut in our key machine but it would take some trial and error. I'm unsure if the one sided key would unlock the door to a 2 sided lock. We might have to find out.

Do you know the difference between the 07 LS Wallet Key compared to the 08 Wallet Key?

I know that the 07 Wallet Key Part # ends in ...40, and the 08 Wallet Key Part # ends in ...41.

Any idea?

I see. So these are pretty much identical part?..

Is the frequency the same? FCC ID #?

How about the key blade?

I have a 07 and I plan to get the wallet key blade cut to my car.

Maybe a locksmith can?

I'm curious if it needs the teeth on both sides to open. I can certainly deal with one side only then none at all.

The code is a rolling code so the frequency changes. If the battery goes out the key can be placed on the start button and started via immobilizer chip.

I did find out that the 2-sided locks used in the 06-07 won't work if you cut a 1-sided key and try to use it. You would more than likely have to get a whole new lock set from an 08 model and have a key cut specifically for the new set. You could get an aluminum key cut and drill a 1/8" hole on the head and place it with your keys. But you won't be able to get a key to fit the wallet smart card.

I see. So both the OLD part #, ending in 40, and the NEW part #, ending in 41, will both work the same and be programmed from 06+ vehicles?

How about the trunk? Will a single sided key blade open the trunk? I may as well stash a double sided key blade in the trunk and use a single sided key blade to get to it.

If a one sided key blade won't work on the regular door cylinder, then why would it work on the trunk key cylinder?

I agree.. but doesn't hurt to try. Don't you want to know so you can have some options open?
