Regardless of how "high-quality" our leather is, I would still take BMW leather over it if I could. Ours wears way too quickly.

Actually, I really enjoyed the BMW leatherette. It didn't feel anywhere near as nice as the IS leather, but it was very very good for what it was.

I don't think you compared equal vehicles. A 2.5L vs. a 3.5L. Why not drive the 350?

I can understand all the complaints except for the leather, I am not sure what you're comparing it to. I have never thought my leather was cheap in any way. Nor have any of my passengers. It is VERY soft though. Most Euro cars have a much stiffer leather, something I didn't really enjoy when I was car shopping.

As for the other things:

Power: This is my commuter car, power's not really an issue when all you can do is a steady 70-75 mph cruise 90% of the time.

Space: I think I have had people in the backseat.....3 times. I kind of enjoy the "intimacy" of the cockpit. Feels like it's meant to be driven, not ridden.

Style: This is what dropped the hammer for me over the g35, which I cross-shopped pretty hard (top 5 in this segment for sure). The g35 was a left-brain orgy of technical superiority but the Lexus pushed the right brain's buttons JUST right to the point where I didn't care about the other stuff.

Literally, word for word, my same thoughts... plus AWD is king in WI!!!

I got my IS 250 over a G35 because the IS is of HIGHER QUALITY. It lacks straight line performance to the G, but who needs more power than what its already got. It isn't a sports car and never was intended to be. If you want a sports car buy a Porsche or Z06

Call it what you want ....... leatherette, pleather or something else. It's VINYL !!!! I love it when it isn't called what it really is. Such is the power of marketing.

unless you're 300+lbs and 6ft 8 inches....I think the size is perfect....

250 power is fine....if you wannna race and kick *** - get the 350

use the paddles and the 250 is fine and has plenty of punch. The fit, finish, quality and reliability of the IS is heads above the Infiniti....and I'm not just saying that because I own a Lexus IS. I researched and test drove all the cars mentioned....and the IS won hands down.

Just my thoughts on the IS250. My wife has the IS250 and picked it over the g35 sedan and the acura tl (both of which I would have preferred for the obvious hp advantage) because of the exterior styling and "hands down" superior interior finish. Great commuter car and excellent handling yet obviously cramped backed seat. Other cars in the family for comparison are the LS 430 which my wife finds hard to drive because of the size and a 350Z which is reasonably fast but nowhere near as slick and polished as the IS250. In her case the IS350 wasn't worth the extra $$$ and drop in fuel economy.

The IS350 brakes outperformed the 2005 Boxster S that we just traded in for the GS350. That says something right there.

i'm glad you didn't buy it then! i wouldn't want a complainer up on here.

this morning i blew a SL55 off the line! so i'm happy with a 250.

my brother has a 07 g35. the fit sounds better, less rattle. seats are stiffer than the IS but the actual leather finish feels cold and plastic-y whereas the lexus hus more plushness to it!
