Is this a good trade in value for my 06 IS 350?
A audi dealership offered me $29000. The original MSRP was 43500 blk/grey with lux pkg. I have about 23-24k mi on it and the paint has some swirls but no major blemish. Lexus used cars offered me 26k, BMW offered me 28k and another Audi dealership offered me 27k. The BMW and Audi dealerships who offered me less did it because they saw my car when it was lowered with after market wheels which were bent badly and said some bs about the car being tampered with. Anyways, I know 29000 is not an excellent deal but is its a reasonable one?

KBB says thats about right for a good condition trade in. Even though its prob in excellent condition, they always price things at good. Are you in a hurry to sell it? Private party would probably give you between 2-4k more.
If you dont mind me asking, what are you looking to get?

Impossible to tell if that is a good number or not. How much are you saving on the MSRP of your new vehicle? It's the total package price that is important, not the individual components. It is best to negotiate the price of the new car first, and then introduce your car as trade.

Hey, I went to CarMax about a couple/few weeks ago thinking about selling my IS350. It is an 06 with Premium (no lux, no sport, no navi, with only 18") and sticker ws 38K + change. They offered me IN WRITING, 29,000 with 24,000 miles also. So, if YOUR 06 was 43,500 and MY 06 is 38,000 and we're both around 23, 24K miles... I'd saying you're getting about 2,500 less than you should... HOWEVER, with trade in and tax reduction it's all a wash. Couldn't you get a written quote from carmax and take THAT to the dealership?

right, but not quite that much. the suggested retail price is 35k so I can probably sell it for 32-33k privately vs me getting 29k + 2k tax savings isn't as much of a disparity, but ur right I lose 1-2k.

No way he gets $35K for an '06.Especially in NJ where 250 AWDs dominate the roadways over 350s.
Trading in at $29K is equal to getting $31K with the tax savings. He can try to get $32K privately but he would have to ask $34K or so which would be too high for an '06.I wouldn't want the hassle with dealing with potential buyers which may net you maybe another $500...maybe..
