Default i'm so stupid...

so today i was in the library studying and when i came back, i saw that the air freshener i had on the right-center ac vent had started to leak. it's a liquid based air freshener and i guess the liquid must be pretty strong as it DISSOLVED about a half inch spot of paint on the top of the ac controls....

now i have this really ugly black spot on the top of the unit that is REALLY noticeable...AGH.

anyone think of any solutions? i don't think they make "touchup" paint for the interior stereo...

i was thinking about bringing it to my local detailer and see if he can color match and touch it up for me.

i guess my last alternative is to pickup a new stereo unit and have it swapped out...anyone have any idea how much this would cost? i guess i'd be willing to shell out a few hundred to purchase the unit and whatever it costs to swap the old one out...

so frustrated right now.... AND i have an exam bright and early tomorrow...

They might be able to order just a replacement face plate....

I am not 100% sure if its possible..

Or call around to a few local junk yards too..

The only solution is spreading that stuff all over your center console for an all black look :]

Sorry, I can't think of anything else. That would be quite unique tho....

hm i guess it might be possible that the front is just a faceplate. do you guys think i should bring this in to a dealer to have them take a look at it? or are they just going to say something like oh you need to swap the whole thing out..it'll cost some astronomical amount of money...

Call the Air Freshner Company and tell them to pay for the damages.

This happend to my friends girlfriend. She had this small bottle freshner thingy that you clamp on in the vent. One day it was extremely hot and somehow it boiled/brake and it went into her stock Honda CD player deck.

She put in claim and they wrote her a check for about $400 or so.

So call them up.

I second calling or writing to the air freshener company. Take pictures of the broken bottle and dash. It is a faulty product and they should be held responsible to some extent. You might even want to send the actual air freshener.

+2 on calling the air freshener company. They'll tell you off for sure, so be persistent and keep pushing. But if that doesn't go thru, I think having ur whole face plate repainted isn't so bad of an idea.

Not sure about everyone else, but my IS will be 2 years old this April and it still smells the same as it did when I took delivery. In fact, new passengers are always saying it smells like a new car.

it happen to me within the first few month of owning my car. I order the replace part for $100 at my dealer and i install it myself. It was very pity and painful installation since i didn't want to mess things up. I think the dealer want a total of $200 for part and installation.
