Default TSIB -- Navigation DVD replaced w/ same version?

Hi,
I recently took my 06 IS350 in to get the Nav TSIB done (thought I was in the Atlantic, hah) and when I check the DVD version it says 5.1 still...
They supposedly ordered a new disc (at least they made me wait 3 days) for the fix, but I have a feeling they just recalibrated it by hand and sent me on my way. After my 30 mile drive to work it hasn't hosed up yet... but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone else NOT get the 6.1 DVD for the TSIB fix?

Thanks,
Henry

You should be getting the '07 disc.

Recalibration does NOT work. You can recalibrate that yourself (I was doing it every two miles before the disc was changed).

I'm not sure why it would keep scrolling, but that's not the problem fixed by the TSIB. The TSIB addresses an issue with locking onto the GPS satellites, which causes it to use the speed sensors and gyro to perform dead reckoning to calculate a change in position, rather than get an absolute fix from the birds. Watch for the "GPS" indicator under the map scale on the display. It should turn on soon after starting the car, and should only go out when the car is in a place where the view of the sky is blocked, such as a tunnel or parking structure.

Most likely. They probably had to order the disc, which is why it took them a week. If it the problem is fixed it was almost surely due to a disc change.

You'll have to do a search, I don't know the original thread. The change after the repair is simple, your location will be correct rather than putting the location off in a field or ocean.

doesn't the TSIB replace the 5.1 disc with another 5.1 disc that has the updated firmware? I don't think you are guaranteed the newest nav disc with the lastest maps too (ie, ver 7.1)
