Running without the Tire Pressure Sensors
I noticed in the aftermarket wheel thread that some of you aren't running the TPS's with your aftermarket wheels. Is there a way to keep the warning from displaying? Does it cause any other issues?
I'm thinking of going with 19"s, but I'd probably put the stock TPS's in those (if the rim is compatible). I'm looking at putting R-Compound on the stock wheels but I wouldn't want to have to buy a 2nd set of TPS's for them. Thanks, -TJ |
This is one of the most frequently asked questions on the forum. No, the warning cannot be disabled. Some members put their sensors in the spare tire, in a wheel barrow tire, or in a special PVC pipe contraption to keep them pressurized. You'll find lots of additional discussion on the topic in the searchable archives.

Im putting mines in the spare tire. I think it will cost too much to put them in once I receive my wheels/tires. And there is NO ONE around here that can do 19s, theyre all idiots I swear.

My wheels are not TPMS compatible, so I bought the iForged TPMS adapters - they cost me about $80, and fit perfectly. No more annoying warning light for me... and I get the added functionality of the TPMS system.

I have my stock rims staked in the corner of my garage. If my light ever comes on when im driving, when i pull my car in the driveway and turn the car off and back on, the car automatically sees the sensors and the warning turns off :)

Here's what Javy is talking about and what I have in my JDM wheels as well. No drilling holes and no more TPMS in the spare or home made cannister.
