Default Brake/Clutch Pedal Tip

I installed my sport pedals this weekend. It took me a little longer that I expected, but the look fantastic!

I had an extremely difficult time getting the brake and clutch pedal covers onto the metal plate.

Here is what I eventually did:

1. Soak the pedals in very hot water for a minute or two. This will make the rubber a little more pliable, especially if you are working on a cold day.

2. Spray both the backside of the pedal cover and the metal plate with a little silicon lubricating spray.

3. Fit the top of the cover first by putting it on at an angle with the overlap on the right side.

4. Slide the right side on and then PUSH down on the cover until the bottom and left side are in place.

5. You may have to use a small flat-head screwdriver to pop the left side in place.

6. Make sure you WIPE OFF any spray residue so that your foot doesn't slide off the pedal when you are driving.

This is a nice detail to an otherwise great car design. You may be the only one that ever sees them, but it will be well worth it.

I've been through this before, IIRC it's because the part is discontinued.

You will have to order each part individually.

I just checked my receipt online and all i have is the description without part numbers.

From IS300 Sport Design
-ROD ASSY, ACCELERATO 1 $38.92 $0.00 $38.92

From IS350 Sport Package
-PAD, PEDAL 1 $35.96 $0.00 $35.96
-Pillars rocker and floor - Floor and rails - Foot rest - W/sport package W/sport package 2006 - 2007 1 $36.81 $0.00 $36.81

For my setup, I used the Accelerator Pedal for the IS300 Accelerator Rod Assembly and the brake & dead pedal for the ISx50.

I got mine installed last week (had the stealership do it at my 5k service). I must say I like the way they feel (my foot doesn't even slide off when I'm wearing heels).

If people are looking to buy each piece individually (much cheaper than buying the whole package together), here are the part #'s:

one brake pedal pad 47121-53010
and one accelerator pad 78101-53010
one foot rest 58192-53060

Look around on toyota part sites (PM if you need sites) and you can buy the pedals for approx $110 (depending on site and taxes, shipping, etc).

Also, I'm going to be purchasing a set soon. If anyone in NJ can help me install the notorious accelerator pedal, I'd pay you for your time.

Why not do it yourself? It is not that bad.

Does anyone know if you absolutely need to have the punch tool to remove the gas pedal? Couldn't you use a skinny screwdriver or maybe a nail or something? I'm having trouble finding the correct size punch tool.

I used to 3in deck nail to punch mine out since my other punch bits were too short It was long and skinny enough to fit all the way through. I just cut the pointed end off with a dremel and i was good to go.
