OK it seems as though I am talking to my self in this thread now, which is OK. My garage opener has MyQ and Security+ 2.0 which only works with homelink4 or higher. I have even read some 2013 year cars will not work with security+ 2.0

long story short I jsut ordered $250 frameless Gentex mirror and will replace the factory 2008 mirror with it to 1) have a much bette rlooking mirror and 2) have a homelink V5 mirror that will contorl my garage.

i will post afer i install it and let you know how it goes.. i suppose i will get my multi meter out and do a bunch of guessing as to how the heck i will end up wiring it!

The button on the rear view never gets into fast flashing light mode so it has never learned the xmitter.

QUESTION! Can I buy a rear view mirror on ebay that was meant for a 2013 IS350 and put it into my 2008 IS350???
I have Chamberlin garage door opener and it did not accept my 07" IS pairing, but it paired fine with my 14" GX, however, I swapped out my 07" rear view mirror with my buddy 15" RX 350 mirror before he traded his car in, and it paired to my Chamberlin and the mirror from 15" RX look and fit exactly like the IS mirrors

GREAT!! So you did successfully take a mirror from a 2015 RX and wire it to an older IS350. I am on the right track. For $249, I ordered a:

Gentex Auto-Dimming Frameless Rearview Mirror w/ HomeLink 50-GENK80A

The compass version was $349 and I could not justify the extra $100 bucks for a silly compass.

I bought the new mirror for 3 reasons:

1) It has HomelinkV5 which *will* work with my Chamberlain MyQ unit (was made in 1/2013 per sticker) and V5 supports two way communication so the mirror can tell you if you forgot to closer your garage door when you are down the road.

2) The factory 2008 mirror is in pretty bad shape. Black lines and stuff like they tend to develop.

3) The frameless mirror looks LEGIT!

Mine arrives on Saturday and I will tackle this mini project. I think I have 5 wires to worry about since my side mirrors are also supposed to auto dim.

I shall report my results after I get the new mirror in.

I found the CONSTANT 12V very quickly when using a DMM on the wires coming out of harness. I clipped the old mirror from 2008 off and left the bare wires stripped and hanging to make it easier to probe.

There are 5 wires coming out and RED = always hot 12V.

I am unable to find switched 12V on any of the 4 remaining wires?

Can anyone tell me which is SUPPOSED to be 12V switched on a 2008 IS350 factory wiring harness coming out of headliner? Is it possible it is a COMBINATION of wires or possibly computer controller to make IGNITION 12V??

I am having the same problem with my genie! I have watched every video out there in addition to reading all the advice! They say it can take longer than 30 seconds but which part? step 1 or 3? My RX programmed so easily and now my GX makes me stress!! lol luxury problems today!

what garage opener do you have and what version of homelink is in your mirror.

if you have security+ 2.0 on your garage opener you MUST have homelinkv4 or later

If your opener is 9 years old you definitely do not have Security+ 2.0. That was only put into openers in like last 2012 I think.

As for the version of homelink, look on the back of your mirror. If it is a GENTEX made mirror it will say HL(something) on it...

Just spent the last hour trying to get the Homelink in my 2008 IS350 to program to my Genie Pro Max and was about to throw in the towel. When I would try to program Homelink #1 I would get the slow blink on the mirror LED and then after about 30 seconds the LED would go out. Then I tried erasing the Homelink by holding down the two outside buttons for 20 seconds. That erased it but I still could not get it to do a fast blink when trying to program from the remote. It was always on solid, then slow blink, then off.

Then I found a post here on Club Lexus by dhruvbh and now it works perfectly.

Just moved into the new house and I was trying to program Homelink on my 2011 GS350 for Genie Promax, but the Lexus manual didn't work for me.

What did work for me was:
1. Erasing all of the original settings on the garage door opener, by getting on the ladder and holding down the "Learn" button for 10-20 seconds. After this, the hand held remote ceased to work.

2. Reprogramming the hand held remote by hitting the "Learn" button again. Rapid flash on the learn indicator light. Hit the button on the remote once (the learn indicator turned solid). Hit the button the remote one more time (the learn indicator turns off). Remote is now working.

3. Start with the instructions on the Lexus manual, program via the non-rolling code method by holding Homelink and remote button at the same time for several seconds (not sure if this step is actually required)

4. Get back on the ladder and hit the "Learn" button. Go to the car and hit the Homelink button for 2 seconds. Hit it again for 2 seconds.

That's it, my Homelink button was ready to go. One thing to note, if you have other hand held remotes for the door you are trying to program, they will lose settings after Step 1 above. To reprogram these other remotes, repeat step 2 above.
