Grounding Kits
As there are many companies that carry grounding kits for cars in general, do you think it will have a positive effect on the 2IS since it has so many electronics?
I saw this on my.is, and wondered if anybody purchased it, and had any opinions on it. It states on the site: - Faster engine start-up - You can feel the difference even with A/C on and at maximum fan speed. This system reduces the loss of electricity to nearly zero at ignition coil and produces better ignition spark. - Stable idling - A smoother engine idle and decrease in idle interior cabin noise. - Improved Throttle Response - Minimizes delays in throttle response. - Improved Shifting - Auto Tranny cars will feel a much smoother, faster, and crisper shifts. - Increase In Low -> Mid Engine Torque - Achieve an improved combustion at low or high revolution of engine, which results in increased acceleration. Thoughts? Would this be a good purchase? |
Interesting but seems like people would have been already talking about it if it worked.

I have never really heard either way more positive or negative on these products...
|
^ Yeah, I'm wondering if anyone has installed it on their 2IS yet...
|
I have put them on my RX, but first step would be getting a more powerful aftermarket battery, then something like a Sun Hypervoltage system and then grounding wires. I have all 3 things on my RX.

Total waste of money. Snake oil if you ask me.
|
So with all the electronics in this car, it really isn't that useful...?

I would think Lexus engineers would have made sure every part of the car ground is properly interconnected to each other. no?
it is a lexus after all. |
I had them on both my G35's. I noticed a difference in the AT sedan with much smoother shifting. I didn't notice anything on my MT coupe.
Some say (obviously) it's snake oil but when I took the kit out of my sedan (when I sold it after I bought the coupe), my g/f could even tell there was a difference even though she didn't know what a grounding kit is and that I had taken it out. There was a big thread on one of the g35 forums between a supplier v. skeptic. Both put their $ where their mouth's were and the skeptic ended up purchasing a set (willingly) after they did some independent dyno testing. |
^ Thanks. :) I think I might purchase one and see how it does on the 2IS.
|
It would be cheaper if you bought your own wires.. Also you should go 1/0 AWG. its thicker and better.

I just ordered one, do you guys know where abouts to mount the spots? I have a picture of an 2IS with a voltage stabilizer, but I am not quite sure of all the mounting points.

One thing I wonder with the voltage stablizer is that your giving your dealer a big opening to void your warranty if anything electrically related happens to your car.
Its just something to consider. |
I'd want to up grade the Grounding Wires, Get an Optima Battery, Denso Iridium plugs, and maybe get some stuff from http://www.okadaprojects.com/usa/home.htm if they come out with the coil packs or distributor
