Before I registered as a member, I was reading the threads of interest, but the 'search' function was not available... so that is part of the reason I didn't see those other posts earlier.

Funny story, my wife and I were about ready to buy a 325 or 330 and were on the way home. I ask her, "So are there any other cars you want to see?" She says to me, "Why don't we go to that place that starts with an "L"?" I said, "You mean, Lexus? OK, but that place sells comfortable cars for older people and they are all really expensive."

So we went, and saw, and bought!! Love at first site for both of us. Since then, we went to the Toronto International Autoshow and my wife could not believe how great this car looks and what it offers in comparison to all the other manufacturers out there. That's her opinion from a non-car person... I think that says a lot. Although, I am a little embarassed that I did not even know about the IS until I saw it in the showroom... pretty sad!
welcome to the lexus/CL family!

You can't go wrong with comfort/Luxury and classiness in a Lexus, although the place that starts with "L", could easily have been a Lamborghini place which is all class and the new cars have comfort too. Other than those two, how about Lada?

With the smart thingie, i don't really think it's all that smart, the key fob should also have the lock by itself, remote start/stop the engine and other things i cannot think of at this stage.

Not sad at all. That is how I found out about the IS myself. Course that was over a year ago. My parents were visiting for a few days and Dad was telling me about the LS 430 that he had on order. Thought it would be cool to go down to the local Lexus dealer and check one out with him so I could see what he was getting. Walked into the showroom and saw the IS in person for the first time Bottom line, I didn't spend much time checking out the LS model that he had purchased. Started my DD, joined CL and ordered an 07 several months later!!!!

I think the key does the things, start/stop the engine, open and close windows and sunroof ( I am in Macau haha). The only thing I don't like is, it couldn't remote start the engine... And why the car could drive without the key is in the Car?

The OP is new.

You know what they say...

"Give a man a fish, you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and he won't bother you for weeks."

In this case, I guess nabisco gave the OP a fish before he taught the OP to fish for himself.

I wonder if it is a single firmware and just country coded?

Even if you did hack it, a problem would be being able to mix the countries features I guess.

In the UK, we have UP control of the windows from the fob, yet we don't have autolock at 13mph!

I just confirmed that i cannot lock the car while the fob is inside the car. That's pretty smart...
