I hate side moldings. I think they take away from the sleekness of the car. That an if you get hit by a door os scraped or something, that just means that you now have a scuffed or scratched side molding which is equally as bad looking as a scratched door. Unless you intend to buy new side moldings everytime one gets hit and you are hoping that when you get hit or scuffed its going to be right on the molding.

Any other pics of the scratch? It doesn't look too deep and looks like you could buff it out using a da.

How hard did you work the scratchX? scratchX is a great product but you really have to put some effort behind it.

That really looks like a fixable problem. Do you have access to a DA? I would bet money #83 / 8006 followed with #80 / 8006 would knock that right out.

I will agree that those are the best looking door moldings I have ever seen on a car. They are more sporty.

A DA is a dual action polisher, and is used to detail cars because it is much faster than detailing by hand. When you use scratchx again, make sure you put lots of pressure and work it in well.

I recon side mouldings in this instant takes the expensiveness out of the car. I don't want to be mean but it looks alot like a corolla.

But if it works and if you like it then i suppose it's worth it for you then.

From the pictures, it looks like someone "keyed" your car .

The main problem in car parks is other people being careless and letting their door bang against yours. IMO those mouldings are too low to effectively stop this happening. They do look ok though. I just park at the far end of car parks where it is quieter. 18 months and not a mark yet (probably will now I've jinxed myself).

Honestly if you haven't had any experience with a DA it's not something I would try for the first time on your IS. It doesn't take a lot of practice to get the hang of it but I would hate for anything to go wrong.

I am certain you will get good results with scratchX, you might have to apply it 3 or 4 times, and use some serious pressure, but I would bet it will take that right out.

If you haven't read this yet I would give it a look over.
