Brake Dust

Does anyone know how to prevent so much brake dust from collecting itself on the rims of the IS 350? Please let me know what product because I cant stand cleaning my rims every other day!

That stuff doesnt really work well. Your best bet is to put on the new pads and see the difference.

I got the new pads, the braking performance decreased but not too much. The dusts are gone though, the front wheel will only get a little bit more dusty than the back.

I planning to get back wheels to help hide the dust.

You can use Wheel Wax, Zaino, or any other (very) durable sealant that will hold up to the heat. However, you'll still get brake dust on the wheels.

I just wash my car every week or two. I've seen comments on here that state clearly that the new brake pads = decrease in performance. I think I paid extra to have a higher level of performance on this car, and I'm not willing to dumb it down for the sake of vanity.

15951 thats how I feel as well. I know there isnt a product that will totally fix the problem. I just need something that will decrease the amount of brake dust so I dont need to be cleaning my wheels every other day. Its crazy how big a difference the car looks when the rims are clean compared to dirty.

sorry I forgot to mention that I got the new pads from lexus under the brake dust TSB. I have gone to the drag strip with the new brake pads and the braking performance is about 8.5 out of 10 compare to the pads that came with the car.

How does the car accumulate so much brake dust anyways?

Braking too hard? Pressing on the brake for a long period of time? Will braking lightly reduce the amount of dust?

just give me more reason to wash my car :)

While doing these tests were the brakes properly broken in?

FYI, other people have stated that the new brake pads did NOT reduce performance. Without an actual test we will not know. Hopefully a person with stock brake pads can get together with one with new ones and do some tests for us. Anyone wanna volunteer?
