Default Ordering an IS?

Hey guys/gals, my first post. Just wanted to know if anyone know how long it take to order an IS? My dealership don't have the color combo I want.

That could take anywhere from a day to weeks depending on where they can get the car from. Most likely, the dealer will look at other Lexus dealers to see if they have them. Then they'll deliver it to your local dealer.

Have you tried going to other dealerships? I'd shop around. Me, I went to like 4-5 different Lexus dealers to find the deal and color combo that I want. Mainly pricing was the issue.

dealer usually says 3-6 months cos they need to place the order and ship the car. I wanted a 250 6MT with "Smoky Granite" but 6MT only comes with Obsidian or tungsten pearl. I didnt place the order cos they were asking MSRP.....and I didnt wait for 6 months either. it's very hard to find and i guess i am just lucky enuf to find one. haha

where in CA r u in ? so/nor cal?

If it is ordered from Japan (and not "ordered" and searched for from allocations), then it will take about 4 months. I just picked up my car today. Ordered in at the end of October (2006).

Hey, speaking of from Japan---the window sticker with all the car info stuff on it says that mine is delivered from the

"Port of Long Beach, CA". That means it has got to be imported directly from Japan right?

All IS come from Japan... That just says where it came ashore.

I think my window sticker says Jacksonville, FL if I remember correctly.

There are a lot of plants here in the US that assembles Toyotas too. I didn't know if Lexus had a plant here or not. But if they are all from Japan, then that is good news. We can rest assured that it's genuine quality!!!

The only Lexus model assembled in the US is the RX350. And its pretty much the creme de la creme of the Toyota plants in North America.

Thanks for the help. I was looking at the lexus dealership in Fremont. Nor Cal. Anyways, I'm still unsure when I should order, cause I have to sell my old car first. I want to sell first, but I don't want to wait months after I already sold.

Woohoo. Here's another thing. Are service cost high on these cars? I know the BMWs and Mercedes are out of this world expensive. I haven't done any service on it yet.....
