In the summer I usually wash my car and if I pressed for time an need the acr looking good, I go to the dealership. In the winter when it's TOO COLD (like today) I go to the dealer. The Lexus dealer that I go to has a car wash that also spent alot of money on their system in order to maintain that show room shine. No swirl marks on my car, but then again I own the Tungsten color.

Those self-do-it-yourself places are good, but I alway wonder about the water pressure. Could the water coming out be too hard on the paint? If you ever put your hand on the stream, it HURTS! And those brushes are caked with other peoples dirt. When I go to these places I usually keep the pressure to a minimum and bring my own sponge to wipe the car.

We really should have 2 threads for this topic. One for the cold climate locations and one for the warm locations.

I'll be opening up a car wash in the northern suburbs of Chicago, so it's good to know that there is a demand even in the cold weather...

Are you serious? What kind of services are you going to offer? When and where will it open?

Yeah, I am looking at a few different locations now...

It will be a full service car wash and detail shop. For now, touchless, no brushes. Been down that road with the BMW and 'experimenting' with different car washes and they are just horrid to the paint. I have tried a touchless wash that isn't too far from my home in the western suburbs and love it, does a great job.

Right now, I am in the planning stages. I will likely take more action after I get married in October....

Yes I do since my car is a lease and I don't care about swirl marks plus I've never been that picky about my cars to begin with. I'm too lazy to wash it on my own. lol

On cars that you do not care about the paint condition, car washes, including dealer ones, are OK. I have my SUV/family and cargo hauler washed at car washes when I don't have time. I know what to expect.

On my Lexus? Uh, no.

Congrats on the engagement! Let me know when you open up the shop. I will definitely stop by.

Yeah, I use the dealership car wash. I don't see a problem, even on a black car. They wash the new black cars on the lot the same way and you'd think they'd need a good wash system to not scratch up the new cars on the lot, or customers would walk out.

I use unicorn fur to dry my car, but I'm sure cotton ***** work well too, if you're lazy.
