Question Thinking about getting TINTS here in California

Hey guys,
After browsing through CL forums ALOT!, and seeing many pictures of beautiful looking 2ISes u guys have on here with tints.

I really want to get tints on my 2IS.
I want to stay LEGAL, because I hate wasting time getting pulled over.
From what i heard, 70% on the front side windows is legal, some say you can't have ANY tint on the front side windows. What's the truth? How long have you guys lasted on anything lower than 70% on the front without getting a ticket?

I was also thinking my car might look kind of weird, considering that i do 70% on the front and something 35% or lower on the rear. Like the contrast between the two. Anyone got pics? Tickets? hehe

Thx for the help...

LET ME ADD MORE TO THIS POST:
Did you guys have to have your door panel removed because of the tweeter speaker at the corner of the window?

I have 35 in the front and 20 in the rear for several months now and haven't had a hard time from cops. I don't even roll my windows down when one is next to me.

Actually the 2006 CVC says 85% front side windows, 100% windshield, and whatever else your heart desires in the rear.

Having said that, if you do a modest tint all around, sometimes they can't tell ...as long as the cops aren't reading I'm at 61% all around, barely looks any different, and I get lots of heat rejection from the ceramic tint.

As far as I know, legal tint in California is basically no tint. That said, I do have 35% all around, and as long as you don't do anything else to attract attention I reckon they won't give you too much trouble about it.

illegal to tint front windows. thats why some shops make you sign a waiver, so you cant blame them if you get a ticket. that said my gf's accord has limo in the back and almost limo in the front and still no tickets 2 years now.

i added this later on in my OP, some of you might have missed it.

I want to know if you guys had your front door panel removed because of the tweeter speaker. Im worried about having it removed as it might introduce rattles and creaks into my ride.

Legally, any tint/adhesive on the front side windows are illegal.

Will a cop pull you over for it? They can. They most likely won't waste their time, but they can. Just as long as you don't drive around like a jerk, they won't waste their time on you for tints alone...

my door panel was left on, they didn't want to take it off to be safe. it took a little longer, but they did a great job around the tweeter.

This is exactly the tint I'm thinking of doing. Do you have pictures of it or can someone with similiar tinting post some pics?

i think in cali, 35 won't attract attention, and 20 might be pushing it. i talked to someone last week about tint, he had 5% and has gotten 2 tickets. it looks a lot better than 35%, but it also means more ticket money. it's up to you...

i probably would've gotten 20% if i didnt have a red car, cause that attracts enough cop attention as it is...

Something like $25, then go to a Police Station to show you took it off, then whatever $$ it costs to put it back on...

In Cali anyways.
