Default 3M clear bra on Black

Hey guys,

Would the 3M clear bra look weird on a black car? My black is350 is coming soon, and I wanna get the bra, but I've heard some people say it might look weird on black...any truth to this? What about how the paint changes color over time? Will the color look mismatched with the parts that have the bra on? Anyone w/ a black IS have any experience w/ the 3M clear bra? Oh also, how long does the 3M hold up over time, and when does it have to be replaced if at all? Thanks in advance!

I have 3M on my granite and you can't see it from 5ft away. Even up close its really really hard to see. When I looked at the cars on the lot that had 3M I felt you could see it more on the lighter cars than the darker. I forget its there half the time.

It does not look weird at all. Can I tell it is there? Yes, at certain angles I can see the line across my hood. Other angles I can see a very slight orange peel effect. Most angles I can not even tell it is on. It certainly does not look bad at all.

What looks weird/bad to me are the chips on the front end you will get without the protection. Chips look the worse on black cars. Clear bra's look fine because you really don't notice them

i could take pics of the 2 obsidian cars i have with clear bra's on it when i get home. but in summary, if the car isn't dirty- its hardly noticeable. It depends though on the lighting condition and angle you are looking from.

i got the ventureshield on my cars- so cant comment on the 3m. also- ventureshield has a lifetime warranty. hope that helps.

Much of it will also depend on the expertise of the installer. I had mine done with 3m and there were lines with very small bubbles (that didn't disappear in time like the installer said they would) and lines that were very noticeable.

Black is the worst color for clear bras. I don't think I would have really noticed the lines on a lighter color.

To me I would go with either brand. The chips really suck!

Can't notice it 5 feet away on my black. It's the only part of the car I don't freak out about swirls and scratches when I dry the car. Drying black with a cloth baby's diaper would still probably show swirls/marks. Hope you can get past that.

looks good. u cant tell its there, but u can see the line across the hood/fenders if u look closely...black is one of the hardest colors to clear bra, so make sure you take it to a good place....also, clear bra's tend to yellow over a period of time, but they told me you wont see the yellow on a black car =) which is a thumbs up!
