i saw some at the store i was thinking of gettin them.. said it was to add 100 hp!!!! now thats some pretty nifty dice lol

 

When i think about it modding sure is a waste of money. But then again its my first car that i bought myself so its the case of being able to say to myself "been there done that" later in life. I got 20's already and a few more visual mods coming. No more after that since thats all i can afford. Would love to change the exhaust tho.

 

i had cut half my exhaust out of my car before my first oil change. Actually it was with less then 2000 miles on it.

i think for now stock, i think i should appreciate what i have bought already.

i would look into a nice small lip kit, upgrade lights, tien s-techs, intake, lexus spoiler, and lexus drilled sport pedals.

but i like mine how it is now, only when i fancy a minor change ill add something.

 

hey i'll give someone a dollar and an APC decal to whoever puts a plastic wing on their IS.

 

I'll do it...for a bit more though.

Well the mod bug did hit me and I am waiting for my mods to arrive as we speak.

 

my last car was heavily modded. i bought the lexus so i could keep it clean and stock.

To you perhaps, but to many stock looks classy. I also suspect your phrase “tastefully modded” could be an oxymoron.

 

For me the thing is to mod the car to make it more my style and be a little different from all the other IS's. Just my opion.

 

I am done with modding cars. The Lexus is a fresh start for me. I like the way it rides and all the comforts. My previous modded cars all had the ride quality of a stagecoach, no backseats, every HP and weight reduction I squeeze out made the car less and less streetable, sure it was really fast, but then what? I realize I don't really drive that fast, I actually became a more resposible driver and understand more about the danger of speed.

I would end up with a very unsellable vehicle on my hands, wiring that only I could understand. A huge money pit that puts other money sucking hobby to shame.

I have grown out of that need for speed phrase. It's can be a satisfying hobby, but through experience, I have learned spending more money on a depreciating property (the car) is quite bad.

I understand for some of us, earlier in our lives we were deprived of a fast car, and we got curious about it.. I tried to tell people my experience on modding cars, that in the end it's usually not worth it. (saving and investment is a great idea). But hey, it's hard to resist the temptation to have a fast car when many people just out of school with a job offer can afford a used STI.. S2000 etc now. Actually if you want to go fast, buy a car that is already fast.. when I started, production cars with that kind of power did not really exist or affordable.

enough rambling.. I do plan to get the factory spoiler because I wanted it in the first place, but it would make the car buying process more difficult to specify it.

 

hmm I said No. But it seems like everyone considers tinting a mod. I thought it was more of a necessity in this hot summer day and not necessarily a mod. In any case I will get my windows tinted...
