what kind of 3m tape was it? is it specifically for automotives or what? the only kind i found was kind of thick and wouldn't keep the emblems flush with the car :\ and how did you apply the tape? did you hold it down for a long time, heat it or anything? the adhesive tape i got sucks!

IF you can even buy them. I don't know of any places that sell black emblems, only black pearl. All the members that I know of on this board had to make their own black emblems.

I prefer the normal one IMO, but don't you think now it has more spacing?
"I S 350" instead of "IS 350"?

I used 3M professional grade double side tape. It is gray in color with red protective cover. It is about 1" 1/2" wide. Be sure to cover the entire emblem. Otherwise you will have water problems. The tape is the same used by Lexus. It can be purchase at Home Depot. Be sure to wipe the back of the emblems with alcohol prior to taping.

I used the blue tape to mark the top and bottom of the emblems prior to removal. I used it as a guide for reinstall. Yes, the "I" & "S" is a little too far apart. It is not noticable if not shown side-by side with factory install. The "S" & "0" does have a guide pin (hole). I hope I answered all your questions.

Please post pictures if you do this.

The tool used was a paint can opener from Kelly Moore. You should be able to get it FREE from you local paint store.

Don't just stop at "black" emblems. Try other colors that will compliment your car. That is what makes it "custom".

The "Black Pearl" from Lexus is over price. Why buy emblems that you already have!

Post pictures please!

When the emblems were removed I thought about painting them the same color as my car.

Prior to paint, sand the emblems with 400 sand paper (wet sand). If you do paint it the color of your car, you should buy sa small pint of paint from a body shop. It should not cost a lot for them to mix some paint for you. Use a hobby air-spray guy to paint the emblems. You will get VERY nice results.

Post pictures!

On my RX, the rear L does have two holes behind them. I have a badgeless rear and my uncle had to use a filler to get the look just right.

The front L we painted silver (since the gold L had turned into a urine color).

There are a total of 6 holes on the trunk lid: 2 on the "Lexus" nameplate, 2 on the Circle-L logo, and one each on the "S" and "0" in "IS 350". Below is a picture of the back side of the my stock emblems.
