ARC parts have always been expensive. I remember first reading about their titanium exhaust. I was like... "Wow."

This is the third car I've seen an ARC intake installed in. Every single one of them looks like a high school shop project. The welds are so-so (especially for $800), they always pull in hot air from the engine bay, and they're a dry foam filter that does a really poor job of filtering compared to paper, oiled gauze, or oiled foam.

I don't buy the "JDM goodness." Just because it's made in Japan doesn't mean it's inherently superior.

It would be interesting to data log IAT and do some timed runs, especially on a warmish day.

Got my car dynoed today. The results were pretty much what I expected, not much gain, but far more efficient. The car only gained about 1-3HP and torque from 3-6k but after 6k it continued climbing where as the stock airbox dropped off. When the car reached redline it was making about 9 more HP than the stock airbox. Torque and horsepower curves were much smoother with the ARC than stock.

So without the ARC: 264HP 234TQ
With ARC: 267HP 238TQ

Before people start to flame me for spending $800 on such a small HP gain, remeber, this is not a full intake it's just an airbox. So, I would guess with the addition of a smoother intake tube another 3-5 HP/TQ wouldn't be out of the question.

wait, i'm not too familiar with this box...

so it's a replacement airbox? (i saw a pic and it looks huge) and for example, you can use it with the joez intake pipe? that sounds pretty cool... can't wait to see results after you change the pipe. also, would you be able to show us the dyno chart?

Correct, it is simply a replacement airbox. Yes, you can pair it with a JoeZ intake pipe. I'm gonna have to wait until I go to work on monday to post the chart since I don't have a scaner here.

Did you dyno the car on the same machine you used for your baseline run?

Thanks.
