but you can keep both hands on the wheel with the paddles. personally if im blasting home on the back roads i want both hands on the wheel. using the paddles lets me drive aggressive and that much more safer.

I am old school! I find it the opposite sometimes. During a real sharp turn I have to move my hands around the wheel. Does that make sense?

Aloha,
Larry

That's why lexus offers both paddle and console shifters. When you have access to paddles, use them. While you are doing sharp turns, you can still down shift using the console shifters. It is just easier for me to use paddles to downshift 2 gears at one time, assuming that I am not turn any sharp turns.

Can't believe anyone is complaining about the shifters...not like your fingers are going to be stripped raw from the 1/4 second or less you are applying the shift.

I downshift with the left paddle and upshift with the console as that appears more natural to me coming from a G35 6MT. You cannot achieve the same feel and speed/handling by keeping it in automatic only.

I'm confused about something...

I would use the paddle shifters, because I just like to be "busy" while driving, and can see the appeal of them

But, to me, queueing up a downshift is best performed in an automatic by pressing that pedal attached to your right foot down to the floor. Boom, 3 gear downshift (if you are in PWR Mode). That's what I liked about the 2IS in that mode, it seemed to anticipate my needs.

they are held in with some kind of press pin, no visible screws. don't think they are coming off easily.

It would be nice if the front of the paddle shifters had illumination at night(like the new M5/M6). They look sooooo sick at night!

Not only that, but it would be nice if it had a suede-ish material on the back, like Ferrari's and Maserati's! It's so soft, that you just want to rub your fingers against it repeatedly!
