Pretty easy to do on a Ford or GM. The factory paint on their mainstream cars is nothing short of pure crapulence.

How do you know that ? OP said the car was dragged into the intersection - look at the gashes on the front rim/tire. I'd say this is far more than superficial and surface damage. Front alignment is shot, potential suspension and steering mechanism damage, and possible frame damage. Not sure how big or what kind of a truck, but even a 20' bobtail has a unladen GVW of 15,000 lbs, so imagine another 15,000 lbs exerting force on your IS and dragging it sideways a few 100 feet . . .

$7400 damage? Most likely no/little damage to the frame, suspension, or steering rack. The tires will have taken the vast majority of the abuse of being dragged into the intersection.

Where did it say that the car was dragged a few hundred feet?

I'm not going to disagree, since I've never had a Ford or GM, but I'm confident the factory Lexus paint job is worth saving as much as possible.

EDIT: I actually did have a Ford car ('94 Lincoln Mark VIII), and its factory paint was AWESOME.

I'm actually very worried now. I have been looking at the INGS+1 kit for my GFM, but now I am worried that the paint will not be matched very well.

C'mon FF, I know you're more critical than this. 7,400 is a prelim guesstimate based upon the visual aesthetic damage. Actual steering, suspension or frame damage prolly won't be diagnosed til a road test, when you feel the vibrations. The front rim/tire alone is $500, add another 3 tires and you're over 1,300. Put it this way, if this way your IS, judging by the look of the damage on the front rim/tire, you're comfortable assuming no damage to the underlying suspension, steering and frame ???
