Is it possible to get a base IS250 RWD with auto tranmission? My brother-in-law is thinking of getting one, but doesn't want all those features to jack up the price, he asked me this question. If it is possible, how much above invoice is a good price? We live in Los Angeles.

Attempt to "build one" on the Lexus website. It takes your zip number and only allows for configurations available in your area. It should give you an idea if you can get the configuration that you are after.

You'll be lucky to see a base model on the dealer's lot. They add options so they can make $$. Ordering and waiting for a couple of months will be the way to go, unless you get lucky and someone that ordered a base model canceled.

To get a bare IS auto will be very, very difficult in L.A.

Most people around the area want bells and whistles, and dealerships know this. They will allocate cars with such bells and whistles.

If you "need" a bare IS, it's best to call around and see what dealers have. Sometimes, the bare IS is allocated by the dealer, but will be used as a "loaner." If you can get it before the dealer uses it, you may be in luck!

I got my base model 350, buy buying it off the shipment list. I had to wait two weeks, but they gave me a nice ES to drive while I waited. Yes, I paid sticker, It was last December, but I did work a deal off the back end.
