On the miles to empty display does that include your reserve tank or is without it? Also how many mpg do you guys get on your IS 350s, I am barely getting 19mpg. I know it all depends on how you drive and if you run the A/C and what not but im just curious.

 

There is about 2 gallons left once the miles to empty screen shows 0.
As for my MPG, I usually get about 22-23, half city / half highway.

 

how sure are you about the 2 gallon thing?

 

I have been getting 15.5-15.9 average per tank. I drive 60%city/40% highway.

 

Don't know if he is but I'm very sure there is about 2 gallons left.

I'm getting about 27 MPG (90% highway) according to the Nav. Calculatin' the old fashioned way gets me anywhere from .4 to 1 MPG less. It gets slightly better each time as the engine continues to break-in.

 

Right now am getting about 18.4 MPG ( 40% HWY / 60% City ) The last couple of days I have also been dribing with the snow mode on because my MPG were almost down to 17 MPG and it was starting to freak me out. I tend to drive it a little agressive at times.

 

With A/C on constantly in this humid 100+ degree heat, I'm getting roughly 18mpg, @ 95% city with mostly conservative driving (500 miles, and still breaking in). This is an improvement over the 16mpg I was getting initially, and I expect it to rise as I draw closer to 1,000+ miles.

 

How did you figure out this 2 gallons left thing? Did you reset the trip odometer, drive to empty (sputtering to a stop), then calculate it based on avg MPG?

The reason I ask is because the useable fuel capacity may be significantly less than the advertised fuel capacity.

 

i havent tested how far i can go after the meter hits 0, but what he says does make sense.. i drove my is350 till about ~5 miles left and filled it full..which took ~15 gallons.. and i believe the tank is supposed to have a 17 gal? so logically that would make sense

 

That's why I asked my question above. My last car would literally sputter into the gas station, and I could only put 12 gallons in the 13 gallon tank.

 

How about you test it out for us

 

I recently had a chance to test how much fuel was left in the tank when the meter said 2-miles. Knowing the tank is 17.7 Gal, I filled it up with about 15.5 or so gallons, and I topped it off, just so that I would know that I have a reasonable reserve. I was actually surprised to find there was still that much fuel left. I dont make a habit out of this in fact the car has over 20k on it and this was the 1st time.

 

I've considered it. It wouldn't be that big of a deal to carry a 1 gallon gas can in my trunk for a couple days.

 

In regards to the gas mileage, these cars are REALLY sensitive when it comes to the RPM's... the lower you keep your RPM's, the better your gas mileage. I usually get about 18 mpg (all city driving). This week I got an opportunity to take a 100-mile round trip on the freeway. I set the cruise on 65 mph and left it alone... and got 32.8 MPG!!!
