Default HID Questions need help....

Ok guys i'm very very sorry but i've been searching high and low for opinions and pictures but i really really couldn't find anything that fit my question. i even emailed steve at xenondepot. I'll break up my question so it won't be to confusing:

1. I know that 4300k is the brightest hid upgrade and it is oem hid but i noticed that in some pictures, the color look very silmialr to oem halogens. Is it around the same color and just brighter or are they signifacantly whiter?

2. I know that 6000k Is 20% less light output than the 4300k but the white is whiter. How much whiter is the 600k compared to the 4300k, and is it blue?

3. How will the halogen projector housing affect the hid color and distance? Like if you take a 4300k kit and put it next to oem hid will the color be the same?

Basically i'm trying my hardest to achieve an oem look with my headlights. But i don't know how to narrow it down. If any of these questions are confusing please ask me. I really want to buy a kit from xenondepot this week and install it by this weekend. Do you think thats possible? Thank you guys so much. I"m sure i'll think of more questions.

If you want an OEM look, then get the 4300k kit - end of discussion. I got the 6000k kit because it's the closest in appearance to the BMW/Audi "slight hint of blue" look. To be specific:

Questions 1&2: The 6000k kit is much "whiter" than the 4300k - the OEM look was a bit too "yellow" for what I wanted. I can't answer your third question, maybe someone with the 4300k kit can help you out. Hope I helped!

ok so i've been doing so much research still on the color of the lights. Anyone know how the 4300k compare to stock halogens beside being brighter? Has anyone driven a 4300k and then went to a 6000k? if so how did the output compare and how did it feel on your eyes? thanks guys so much. its just that its $400+ and i don't want to make a bad choice. thanks

1) 4300k hid compared to stock halogen? much brigher and whiter. stock halogen are very yellow.

2) i have gs400 with oem hid (4300k), changed to 6000k d2r now. i have sc430 with oem hid (4300k), changed to 6000k d2s now. like i said i don't really notice any noticeable decrease in light output on the road. everything is just fine. i don't have any vision fatique as well after 4-5 hours of driving (long trips)

4300k does not look like halogen. If you were to install a 4300k kit and turn your halogen high beams on the halogens would look yellow.

While the 6000k bulbs do offer approx 20% less light output than the 4300k bulb you may not even notice as whether you go with the 4300k or 6000k you will still have significantly more light output than stock.

4300k Is ok. Super White at the bulb level, with a yellowish hue on the ground.

If you do have a halogen bulb and the 4300k in at the same time, you'll definitely see the difference as the 4300k will be slightly whiter and much brighter. When you can't compare them side by side, the 4300k kit will look just like stronger halogens.

Unlike rominl, I could see a definite difference in the light output between stock hid's and 6000K ultinons. I still liked the ultinons as the color was great. If they made a d4s in something pure white with a touch of blue/purple, I'd take the output loss for the color.

I just had a question to add onto this:

what would be the difference between the 5000K bulbs and the 6000K bulbs? would 5000K bulbs be just completely white? or do they still have a slight hint of another color? (yellow? blue?)

I had the philips 5000K bulbs in my last ride and they still had a touch of yellow.

Okay, not to hijack this thread, but how good a compromise are PIAA's as opposed to going all the way to xenons?

My dealer tells me PIAA's would triple the light output of my stock halogens and be a lot simpler.

Any commments on that claim?

Triple the light output? No. PIAA does make some bulbs with more output but they run at higher wwattages than stock (>55w) and may burn your wires or start a fire.

Yeah, I raised an eyebrow when the parts guy said they's put out three times the light of the OEM's.

I have a 4300K kit on my Integra. You won't regret it. I'll take better lighting and visibility over looks anyday.
