Question Navigation info while moving

I apologize profusely if this has been covered. I did a search and found 50 thousand posts, but I didn't find this specific issue discussed:

When I bypass the lockout with the Menu > Volume > Tap-Tap thingy, I get more options while moving. But I still can't get a list of Nearby POI's ... that option is greyed out.

So, if I'm traveling down the highway and want to get a list of nearby restaurants or motels or whatever, all I can get is a screen cluttered with icons unless I pull over and stop. Am I missing something here? Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this just the way it is?

It's not greyed out on mine. After activating the "override" function, my "Show List" button works fine.

It DOES??? Wow, mine doesn't. As soon as I roll to a stop, though, it becomes active again, but not while I'm moving. That's weird.

When you do the volume thing, you do keep pressing the override button until it beeps and turns dark blue, right?

After I do that, I don't think that there are any nav related functions that are locked out. (wish I could say the same for the telephone and audio functions, though )

Yes. I'm going to go out and try it again in a minute and make sure I am doing it right.

I had to do some disassembly, wire cutting and switch installation on my Infiniti to get functionality, and I was excited at the prospect that I could do it in the IS without butchery.

EUREKA! Figgered it out.

I was trying to access the list using voice recognition. In my previous car, the voice command was "Nearby Restaurants". In the IS, it's "Nearest restaurant". And since only one single restaurant can be the "nearest restaurant", there is no list to display. Duh.

So I went at it through Menu > POI Category > Restaurants, and lo and behold I could get a listing. Yeeee-HA!

Thanks for helping me work it out!
