lights won't turn off -
I recently purchased my 350 and have just driven it at night for the first time. There is a knob to the left of the steering wheel that controls the luminosity of instrument display. I've noticed that unless I completely turn off the display lights with this knob the lights down by my feet and another small light next to the sunroof dial remains on while driving. I called and asked the dealer about it and they said those lights are supposed to remain on. That sounds ridiculous to me - why would I want to look at my feet while I'm driving. I need to see my instrument panel though, you know, to see just how fast I'm going when I blow past someone. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I guess I'll have to get used to it as well.

you can take it to the dealer to do your personalized settings and they can be shut off for good that way

The puddle lamps on the mirrors, footwell lighting, and the overhead mood light is all customizable using the LPS (Lexus Personalized Settings). You can have them turn it off if you wish. It is free for the first time. You can also do many other things. All the settings are inside the Owner Manuals.

all my passengers think the footwell lighting is cool...

same... they all like it.. everytime a new guy comes in they go ooOooOo.. *drool*..

I test drove E500 benz that had the ambient lighting I thought it was nice.

My Audi had ambient lighting too, but it was red. Seems like red is quite a bit less harmful to night vision. (Though like the other posters, I've gotten used to the white LEDs and don't even notice them anymore).
