took it in for the 5K service and asked them to take a look at it. service guy said they called corporate and they blame it on the tint guy. but they said it wouldn't be a big deal to replace it for me anyway so they ordered the part and its going on in a couple of days. think they did it as an accomidation more than a warranty deal. i dont care how they write it up, im getting it replaced. lot better service than Infiniti!

After reading this thread, I noticed I have this problem on my front passenager side door pillar. Most likely from the tint shop since I don't recall having these bubbling, wrinkling and ridges before. I guess a call to Lexus to replace this is an order. Anyone knows the price Lexus charges for the labor? Grrrrrr.

And this is why I refuse to have tint on my car.

When are they going to make smoked glass an option to be added onto cars. If they can do it on SUVS and Trucks (their rear windows) certainly they can lighten that up and make it legal for regular windows.

Ah well. No tint for me!

This happen to me when i came in for a retint. After i got my car back and 2days later, i notice all 4 of the pillar got mess up. I than went to the dealership and just show them what the tint guy did and basicly they have to replace it. It took one wk for the parts to come in but they did a poor job at it. There is a little gap on all 4 and im done taking it back.

Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of getting this done under Lexus warranty since it wasn't done at Lexus or its tint contractor. I had my tint done as a reputable tint shop here in Los Angeles, one highly recommended by this club. I called the dealer today, and they quoted me $34.82 for the part (fortunately only one pillar molding and not all four) plus $50.00 labor to replace the old and snap in the new.

What does this look like? I think the original poster's picture is gone. I'm wondering if seeing it will be enough to scare me away from getting a tint job.

It shouldn't. Do your homework. When you think you found a place that has got a good reputation, ask them several questions about their tinting process and mention you have heard horror stories about some tint places.

My tint shop explained what kind of film they were using (guranteed not to effect any of the electronics in my car) and let me watch the whole process while it was being done.

Sorry for my ignorance, but are we talking about the exterior b pillars being melted because of the heat gun getting to close when they are applying the tint..

Also I cant see any pics, so could someone post an example..

thx

i know my tint shop took my doors apart to do the windows in the front because of the curve, and maybe i am dumb, but they heat it up on the inside of the window...so what does that have to do with the exterior of the car?

Men, this was an ancient thread that has been resurrected. Try to look at the dates before bringing it back from the dead.
