Timing belt or chain?
Just wondering if the 3.5 litre engines are using timing belts or timing chains... Anyone know?
Timing chain, thankfully.
That's what I was hoping for.
I'd like to note that both the IS350 and the IS250 use TIMING CHAINS.
Good to know timing chains are used on IS. I still remember the old days of problems with timing belts on Audis and Subarus.
doesnt it have a timing rope? LOL sorry i had to

sometimes the chains get loose and u'll need to replace it. but u'll hear it first.
maintenance require for all parts that wear/tear. Some last longer than other. belt vs chains

most of the cars i replace timing chains on were from the 70s. so timing chains lasts hella long. i think most toyotas/ lexus comes with chains now
Lexus still uses belt on their gx470.
chain? thats good to know.

Just out of curiosity what type of noises would you typically hear when you are having timing chain issues. My 07 is making what sounds like a rattling noise, and is very slow to respond when I press the gas. I though it could possible be a timing chain issue since it is pushing 115k. Any feed back is appreciated.
