How many of you bought an IS with a manual transmission?
 

Am remotely interested in buying an IS, and wouldn't do so unless I can:

1) Actually find one that isn't delivered with a slush-o-matic transmission
2) Can be reasonably sure that having a manual in the car won't be the kiss of death with regards to resale value

Anyone have a hard time finding an example with a stick?

rare manuals can actually boost the resale sometimes, the older 6 speed acura legend coupes were hard as hell to find and kept their value

value, the only cars it doesnt on, is pure sportscars, which the IS250 certainly is
not...

Naturally. But my concern is that it will severely cripple the resale, and maybe make it next to impossible to sell one day for fair price. Just trying to get a feel for whether there's a base of people that buy it with a standard transmission.

It all depends on your next buyer's taste. Some people out there just simply HATE automatics to death, and vice versa. But if you were talking about CRIPPLING your left leg/foot's muscles in traffic, then yes, I agree with you. :D

resale will not be the kiss of death. the value will be very close, or same a auto, just takes longer time to sell. some sellers get desperate and sell below value because they just don't have the patience.

when i was looking for IS300 manual, they were priced similar to autos and harder to come by.

conclusion: autos appeal to wider scope and manuals appeal to specific buyers.

people who are looking for a manual specifically sometimes will pay more for a manual, they are more rare afterall
