Default Nav Charge

Is there a subscription charge or monthly fee for the navigation?
And how are the maps updated. Sorry if there is a thread on this subject already.

No montly fee nor subscription charge. It's DVD based which is a part of the navigation package. Maps are updated as new DVD's are released.

The GPS navigation system is free of charge for all users in the US and around the world. Since it is operated by the US Government, you current have 24 hour access free of charge for all GPS signals. Other systems operated by other governments (I think there are 2 others) may not be free. The only thing you have to pay for is the GPS equipment and the media (maps, dvds, etc).

you paid for it with tax dollars. well if youre american anyway. thank your DOD. if you have nasa tv and you liked watching shuttle missions the ones you couldnt see were the ones putting up the gps system. I think clinton was the one who changed the system so that its more accurate now. civilian use was limited to I think either 300 or 30 ft accuracy unlike the russian system. I am pretty sure that limitation was removed in between sessions with the intern.
