Yeap!! The tech will go for a drive with you. You can point out the rattle during the road test.

Can you let us know how you fare with the rattle please?

Others have had the same problem...

I have about 650 miles on my new IS 250, and I started hearing a "creaking" sound in the right dashboard area going over certain bumps/cracks in the road. It seemed to occur more as the temperature outside reached into the 50s or 60s. I decided to take the owner's manual and assorted other booklets in the large vinyl case out of the glovebox. After doing this I have not heard the creaking noise again. This may be just incidental for my car, but it might be worth a try.

Just went into the dealership and told them about the rattling noise. I wanted to take someone for a ride so I can point it out, but everybody was too "busy" at the moment. The service advisor said they would take it for a spin in the morning. So I called back after taking the loaner and asked if they could try to resolve this issue on a later service. They agreed.

I didn't want them to be driving my car around without me there. He also said that they'd probably have to take the dash out to fix the rattle.

So what would you do??? Have them rip out the dash in hopes of fixing the rattle, or just live with it??? Might not even be too bad during the summer.

Fix it yourself. have someone drive around with you and try to determine where it's coming from. Push stuff around under/behind the dash.

I agree.

Sometimes rattles you can fix yourself. I rather fix it myself then have dealer take apart unecessary things. this will create even more problems.

See if you can fix it yourself first.

It seems like your advice is always backwards. Why would it be better for him to push stuff around under and behind the dash? How the hell do you push stuff under and around the dash without pulling it out? And he's more qualified to do that then the dealer?

What's up with all these negative vibes? Why don't you say something supportive or righteous?

Why don't you look at all my posts and then ask the same question?

Also, I happen to think my post was supportive to the person who posted the original item in this thread. How could telling somebody they should tear out their dash be a good thing? Moreso on a car that is brand new and under warranty.

I don't think he mean for the person to tear out his own dash just drive around and try and locate where the sound was coming from. Sometimes a push here or there can stop a rattle/creak, etc. Pulling out the dash would be a last resort since things never go back in the way they came out. Shoot, I just replaced a speaker in my driver's side Tahoe door and now I have a rattle from pulling the door panel off.
